About ME

Simone Bonzano is an Italian professional photographer and videomaker based in Berlin and Ireland whose multilayered, trans-disciplinary approach encompasses photography, video, text, 3D, websites, and social interventions in the public domain.

He is currently working as a freelance photographer, communication designer,
and filmmaker at JUST GOAT.

He studied Archaeology completing an MA in Archaeology of the Near East at the University of Turin, Italy and then completing a Ph.D. (cum Laude) in Near Eastern Archaeology at the Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany. Simone worked on three different archaeological projects in Syria and Iraq.

During this timeframe, he practiced as an on-site photographer and a mindscape maker aiming to visually represent how human perception of power, property, and culture altered the comprehension of the landscape.

In 2021 he created the video installation “Constrasti – how I remember the 80s” for the exhibition “L’Estate sta finendo” curated by Luca Beatrice at the Galleria Umberto Benappi, Turin, Italy.

In 2020 he teamed with the Italian-based painter Paolo Amico on the project “Paura e Delirio in Sicilia”, where he wrote short stories that complements a series of eight pictures.

In 2019 he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger syndrome) at age 40 he decided to focus on photography and visual arts to help him to comprehend his condition.

In 2017 he started his own blog, “il Caffè e l’Opinione” where he wrote about political communication.

In 2016, he began his activity as a professional photographer,  videomaker, digital creator, and designer between Italy and Berlin, Germany.
Besides, he started to practice as a visual artist and photographer.

Since 2014, he started to write for several magazines of politics and pop culture as Berlino Magazine, Left, l’Avanti!, Yanez as a political commentator and videogame reviewer.
